Utah Trasylol Injury Lawyers
History
Trasylol was approved by the FDA in 1993 for preventative use during heart and liver surgery. Its purpose is to reduce the risk blood loss and the resulting need for a blood transfusion. It is manufactured by Bayer. Because it is given intravenously, many patients don't even know they received it.
Side Effects
In 2006, a study found that Trasylol significantly increased the risk of:
- heart attack
- stroke
- kidney failure.
Bayer's Negligence and Recall
In 2007, the FDA faulted Bayer for not making public a study it was aware of earlier that showed these risks. Eventually, in 2007, Bayer pulled Trasylol from the market due to its increased risks and the effectiveness of other less expensive and safer drugs.
Your Legal Rights
Because Bayer hid information from the FDA, from medical doctors and from those who took the drug, Bayer is legally liable for certain injuries received by those who were given Trasylol. Specifically, those injured by Trasylol are entitled to medical expenses, lost income, loss of enjoyment of life and pain and suffering damages.
